You will now be aware of the recent announcement about the liquidation of Carillion. With such a massive and complex failure, at this stage some of what is being said is conjecture and speculation. The hard facts are though, that just under 20,000 Carillion jobs in the UK could go – although hopefully many will be redeployed to whichever company takes over the contracts they are working on. However, many more jobs are at risk as 5,000 suppliers and smaller subcontractors could go out of business with the double hit of potential large bad debts coupled with the loss of future income.
